The Board of Corpoguajira, It approved the agreement by which he declared Bañaderos – Camarones River upper basin- as Integrated Management District (DMI). The new protected area has 10.820 hectares and is located in the jurisdiction of the municipalities of Riohacha, Hatonuevo, Barrancas and Distraction.
With the declaration, the Management Plan was also adopted DMI, which it was structured by the following areas: preservation, restoration and sustainable use. The document prohibits mining activities, inadequate waste disposal and wastewater; use of agrochemicals, commercial or sport hunting; deforestation, burning and the introduction of species of plants and animals, that could cause serious risks to existing resources in the area.

An Integrated Management District is a geographical area, in which landscapes and ecosystems retain their composition and function, although its structure has been modified and whose natural and associated cultural values are set within the reach of the human population, to be allocated to sustainable use, preservation restoration, understanding and enjoyment.
