In the town of Caracolí, the study project for the declaration of a protected area in said population was carried out, with which the elements at the biodiversity level will be determined, hydrological, geological and social, that will allow to identify the guidelines for decision-making and the respective projects of a management plan based on an articulation program with the different actors in the region.

As a preliminary result of the baseline studies, a total of 90 morpho-species of flora, 143 butterfly species, 30 Of fishes, 9 amphibian, 30 reptile, 90 of birds and 33 of mammals. These studies have in turn allowed, make a report of species with some degree of threats, which can guide preservation strategies in the region and the generation of conservation objects.
