WITH AWARDS NIGHT, ENDING THE MEETING FOR SUSTAINABILITY GUAJIRA

Corpoguajira led for four days an event that we aim at building a sustainable Guajira

With the assistance of more than 700 Representatives of 18 Regional Autonomous Corporations country, Corpoguajira opened the Meeting for Sustainability and the VII Intercar Sports Games 2019.

The day started on Thursday 7 November with a working session between the heads of communications of the national environmental authorities, In which strategies were analyzed that will allow to potentiate a communications strategy that contributes to position the image of these entities and to make visible the management that they carry out in each of their jurisdictions..

Then the Forum "Towards the sustainable development of La Guajira" was held., in which Amilkar Acosta Medina and Cesar Arismendi participated in a special way, Guajiro economists; Freddy Zuleta, General Transmission Manager of the Bogota Energy Group; Gabriel Bustos, Environmental Management Manager Cerrejón and Ramón Antollinez, Elecnorte Project Manager.

"We are totally pleased with the presence of the Directors and officers of the Corporations that visit us at the Meeting. This is a great space that we opened in La Guajira, to exchange good practices and work towards guiding an inclusive process towards the country's sustainability ”, said Luis Medina Toro, Director Corpoguajira.

The day 8, in Palomino, a technical visit was made to the sea turtle conservation project, space where directors and communicators of the CARs learned about the program developed by Petrobras, Sea World, Jorge Tadeo Lozano University, the Association of Peasants and Corpoguajira for the preservation of this species in its natural ecosystem. Therefore, the team moved to the beaches, managing to return home more than 60 turtles between four months of age of the species Caretta caretta.

After that, the board of directors of the Association of Regional Autonomous Corporations and Sustainable Development was held, Asocars. With the participation of 15 directors of different CAR, who developed an agenda aimed at promoting institutional sustainability and strengthening the environmental authorities in the country.

"It has been a very satisfactory day for the Association and the environmental authorities; We have addressed different topics in the administrative and missionary matters of the CARs and at the same time we have shared significant experiences that allow us to grow and strengthen the management that we carry out in search of the conservation of biodiversity and natural resources in Colombia ”, expressed Ramón Leal Leal, Director of Asocars

At the end of the academic activity, The visitors moved to take a traditional canoe tour of the Navio Quebrado lagoon where they practiced bird watching in the Los Flamencos Fauna and Flora Sanctuary area.. Later they were oriented to the indigenous community of Chentico where they were received by the traditional dance of culture., the yonna, and where their babbler expressed how valuable Wayuu culture is in the department.

Intercar Sports Games

The department of La Guajira also hosted the VII Intercar Games, a big event, organized by Corpoguajira, that brought together more than 600 amateur athletes who carry out different tasks in the regional autonomous corporations of the country.

The opening of the games was held on 7 November, from the 7:00 pm, with an inaugural parade that started from the Cultural Center and ended in the Nicolás de Federman Park, space where they crowded near 1.200 people, between visitors and residents of the Riohacha District.

The tournaments were held in 7 scenarios, that were suitable for the development of friendly competitions in futsal and beach soccer disciplines, women's and men's basketball, Beach volleyball, Athletics, cycling, rana, tejo, mini yew and domino.

The entrance to each one of the meetings was totally free, so that all interested persons to enjoy these recreational activities and, at once, share with the invited delegations. The sports venues of the games were: Federico José Serrano Soto Stadium, Jhon Eder Medina Coliseum Toro, Maracana stadium, Anas Mai Convention Center and the beaches of Riohacha.

The Meeting for Environmental Sustainability, It has also reactivated the economy of Riohacha entrepreneurs.

Restaurant owners, hotels and the transport company Turismaap, have been linked to the activity, through discounts and special promotions for the participants that these days were visiting the District.

This great event is organized by Corpoguajira with the support of the Bogotá Energy Group, TGI, Chevron, Elecnorte, Cerrejón, Morelco, Geceli by, Petrobras, Bancolombia, Isagen, Chevron and Comfaguajira.

Closing of the meeting and awarding of the games

During the closing of this great event, the success of the joint was evident, the revitalization of the economy and other purposes that were fulfilled in this initiative of Sustainable Guajira. Together for the environment, an agenda was developed with visits to places of great ecological importance for the department and, of course, in the different sports competitions, in which we demonstrate with brotherhood and fellowship the brotherhood that we have between the CAR.

An event that received more than 1.000 visitors in four days, achieving hotel occupancy in a 100% of your ability, space that allowed to contribute to increasing the consumption of services in restaurants and transporters in the city and the department, taking into account that the travel agencies also had participation guiding the delegations to different tourist points such as: the Cabo de la Vela, Mayapo, Palomino and Shrimp.

Days where the purchase and acquisition of handicrafts was strengthened, of generated direct jobs, supported the partial restoration of sports venues, and most importantly, the carbon footprint was calculated with a total of 367, 8 Ton Co2, which Corpoguajira will compensate with the sowing of 24.182 trees and environmental awareness.

The effort and commitment of the athletes of the Guajira Corporation that allowed themselves to leave the territory is highlighted 6 gold trophies, 4 silver trophies and 4 bronze trophies. During the event, recognition was given to the Cortolima delegation, who obtained the greatest number of medals in the competition, and the delegations selected to assume the commitment in the next term were presented., where the Regional Autonomous Corporation of the Northeast Border was chosen - CORPONOR.

This initiative for the first time carried out in La Guajira, it gives rise to different sectors and unions to convene activities and strategies that allow the economy of the territory to move, through sustainable actions that allow the development of the department.
