In the approximation of the dry season and high probability of formation of forest fires, Regional Autonomous Corporation of La Guajira articulates with the Municipal Councils Risk Management for formulating contingency plan to be implemented to mitigate the alert declared by the IDEAM.

Colombia in recent 3 years has been highly affected by forest fires, disappearing thousands of hectares of forests, shrubbery, pastures and everything that inhabits them. The above, product unjustified and uncontrolled fire in which plants generate fuel its spread, managing to destroy everything in its path.

Taking into account the facts, mitigation actions, professional studies and concepts of entities seeking to mitigate risk, issued the following recommendations:

Water supply for the population:

• Is a wakeup call to the operating companies of aqueducts and the community to exercise surveillance of water supplies and planning and use of the resource in the following months.
• Make good use and saving water efficient water sources highlighting different in the case of artisanal and artesian wells.
• In irrigation districts, planning times and irrigation shifts for all general users can access the water.
• Establish mechanisms water storage, protection of reservoirs and maintenance of irrigation systems for optimal utilization of water resources, also seek alternative systems water for animals and crops.
• Create opportunities for awareness with users for the proper use of water resources and conservation of water quality in homes.

agricultural and livestock sector:

• properly plan agricultural activities and livestock, to possible water deficit conditions in the department of La Guajira.
