After the Regional Autonomous Corporation of La Guajira opened an environmental sanctioning process against the District of Riohacha and INTERASEO for the inadequate handling and final disposal of waste in the sanitary landfill, an immediate compliance requirement was made in parallel so that measures are taken necessary to remedy the environmental effects derived from the operation of the transitory cell of the waste disposal site.
Given the recent complaint from the Cabritos communities, Spring, La Loma and Santa Clara 1 and 2, the Director General of Corpoguajira, Samuel Lanao Robles, He went to the place to verify the environmental damage manifested by the inhabitants of this area. Due to the evident affectations, an immediate call was made to the District Mayor so that through his operator of the disposal site, urgent actions are taken to minimize the causes that gave rise to the measure.
Inadequate dumping of leachate, formation of open dump without waterproofing and on bare ground, presence of flying waste in the communities and the lack of installation of burners for the management and control of gases in chimneys, are some of the obvious environmental effects that originate the requirement of Corpoguajira.
