The Regional Autonomous Corporation of La Guajira – Corpoguajira, leads the project "Strengthening of environmental and land management in the jurisdiction of Corpoguajira, La Guajira ", prioritized and approved by the Environmental Compensation Fund of the Ministry of Environment, Housing and Territorial Development.

This will allow strengthening environmental planning processes guiding the regional planning, through advice and planning with environmental criteria of the processes of environmental and land management developed by the corporation and the consolidation of the components of environmental information system as a mechanism to support management processes in land-use planning.

Through the actions of counseling and follow-up in La Guajira POT, has been identified that municipalities such as Albania, Barrancas, Uribia, La Jagua del Pilar, Villanueva and Dibulla, They have developed significant advances in the context of updating and compliance with current regulations. Likewise, there are local authorities that have not implemented this tool for environmental territorial development creating difficulties in situations like: urban sprawl and permanent land use conflicts.
