Within the framework of the pink flamingo conservation program (Phoenicopterus roaeus), the Regional Autonomous Corporation of La Guajira carries out monitoring activities of the species to recognize its time of permanence in Colombia and its migratory routes within and outside the country.
On this occasion, GSM / GPS transmitters were installed in two pink flamingos in order to monitor and evaluate the distribution., changes in their migration routes and the risk associated with the construction of infrastructure of different types such as electricity transmission networks or others.
The monitoring is done in real time using wildlife tracking technology such as the Gsm chip., which sends your location information to the professional in charge of monitoring it, thus keeping the migration path up to date. The device has a rechargeable battery and can output data for up to two years.
The individuals were released in the Musichi Integrated Management District with an active participation of the community of this village of Manaure.
