As the highest environmental authority of the department of La Guajira we implement strategies that generate conservation of ecosystems, therefore through sustainable and sustainable projects we increase environmental awareness among the population of our jurisdiction.

This time the Regional Autonomous Corporation of La Guajira participates outstandingly in national awards Royalties well spent, organized by the National Planning Department; within 7 categories arranged to compete, select Participation of Civil Society, with the project Construction of an underground well to provide enough water to communities in Kasiche i, Kasiche ii, Lot and Wayumano in Maicao, La Guajira.

After introducing 282 projects we are within 6 shortlisted in our category, the only regional autonomous corporation competing in these awards and chosen within two environmental projects sector and sustainable development.

The project came at the request of the community and the department has gone through severe droughts in recent years, As a result we participated in a nationwide contest Colciencias where we be benefited for the implementation of the project.

They were initially 300 people benefited in the four communities, but taking into account the effectiveness of the system currently are 600 people who enjoy the precious liquid. Through the construction of a deep well for water supply in the four communities, counted 12 collection points.

We emphasize that the project is an example, thanks to the empowerment of communities have exceeded expectations, currently they exercise social control through an organization that has allowed give sustainability to the project.
