In 2013, The United Nations Organization proclaimed every 3 March World Wildlife Day. The objective of this celebration, is to foster a culture of wildlife preservation, creating awareness of the importance of these species within humanity and highlighting the beauty of their fauna and flora.
Heeding the call of the UN, Corpoguajira, will be carrying out different activities according to this important day.
Programming starts next 1 March, with a species reception day, in the Cra. 7a No 12-25 Building Corpoguajira (Riohacha), desde las 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Animals voluntarily surrendered by the community, They will be evaluated by the entity's veterinarians and subsequently scheduled for release or subjected to care., as the diagnosis suggests.
Additionally, it is an opportunity to ratify at the national level our commitment to environmental education processes aimed at the conservation and sustainable use of natural resources”, two releases will be carried out, one of them will be Needle Caimans (Crocodylus acutus), in the Bello Horizonte wetland (Dibulla), el 2 March from 9:00 a.m.
The other release will be 3 March on the beaches of El Remanso (Shrimps), where sea turtles of the Caretta-caretta species will be released. For this activity there will also be the release of birds from dry forests.
In this release, The Corporation will have the company of children from the Carrizal areas (high Guajira) and from Mayapo (Manaure), in order to generate in minors a culture of preserving these species that are on the verge of extinction.
The Highest Environmental Authority, extends the invitation for the entire Guajira community to join these activities and actively participate, voluntarily surrendering those animals in your possession as domestic pets, for their respective release.
