In a participatory space and open dialogue with the community of La Horqueta (India), Corpoguajira responded to the concerns of the permit granted by the environmental entity and the National Environmental License Agency (ANLA) for Cerrejón to develop works in the La Puente pit, that contemplates the partial modification of the Bruno stream.

The Corporation acting as the highest environmental authority of the department, establishes a series of technical recommendations and a comprehensive compensation plan, to the company Carbones del Cerrejón Limited, to minimize the impacts that could arise from these works and that will be of great benefit to the communities of influence of the project.

Within the compensation plan, the signing of a conservation agreement with 37 families settled in the area to intervene. In this regard, Communities will benefit from productive projects related to landscape management. This comprehensive compensation plan has the 52 % of your investment destined for social purposes and economic development, rural conservation and development.

It was established, active restoration of 17.500 vegetable species, the restoration of 97 hectares and passive restoration in the middle and upper basin of the Bruno stream.

In that same context, Corpoguajira will carry out permanent monitoring and follow-up of the intervention in the area to take appropriate measures at the time and ensure that the aquifers are not affected.. The above, taking into account the technical criteria that the Institute of Hydrology, Meteorology and Environmental Studies (Ideas), Colombian Geological Survey (SGC) and the Alexander von Humboldt Institute, supply to the Corporation.

In what has to do with the channel occupation process, The Corporation committed to including the community of La Horqueta, to benefit from compensation, despite the fact that the Ministry of the Interior has not considered it as an area of ​​direct influence.

Corpoguajira and the National Environmental License Authority (ANLA) will monitor compliance with these commitments.
