CORPOGUAJIRA AND PROCEED FUNDEBAN IMPLEMENT THE RIVER TAPIAS

On-site meeting Corpoguajira monitoring activities during the implementation of the Citizen Environmental Education Project was held -PROCEDA-: Conservation and Protection of Strategic Systems Tapias River in the department of La Guajira.

The environmental authority implements through Fundeban a project that aims to generate adequate environmental practices in the users of the lower basin of the Tapias River. The above, seeking to promote environmental education, reduce pollution levels through community and institutional strategies and mechanisms and strengthen control and surveillance of the strategic ecosystems of the lower basin of this river.

To this end, Actors for community participation have already been identified with whom the project was socialized and workshops have been organized with themes related to environmental concepts., promoting community empowerment have taken place, psychosocial workshops, participatory tours in the field and community socialization meetings.

Corpoguajira provides technical support to the process from its role as departmental environmental authority, and with the field management of the Foundation, the integration of the members of the Proceda Río Tapias is achieved, through the participatory formulation of the project, group cohesión between leaders of Matitas, blond tobacco, termites, Anaime y Choles, allowing a collective look at the problems identified.

Proceda members recognize terms such as POMCA, Conservation of natural resources, Water, floor, air, and basic concepts of ecology. With the development of 6 member workshops and community meetings; Likewise, inside the inter-institutional working tables, the conservation strategies framed under the Tapias River POMCA are recognized.

Bearing in mind that inadequate environmental practices are still being identified, the area of ​​execution, the project includes some environmental proposals as an alternative solution, between these: the strategic installation of shut garbage collectors made with plastic wood, ecological stoves and an interesting strategy, is the approach to educational institutions in the area of ​​influence such as the Eugenia Herrera school in Matitas and the José Choles Educational Center, in the district of the same name.

Progress in School Environmental Projects – PLEDGE-

In the Eugenia Herrera institution, the School Environmental Project -Praes- Matitas made it possible to identify environmental problems and the boys and girls raised objectives and their solution alternatives and named their project: Use and management of solid waste for the preservation of a healthy environment in the community of Matitas. There they were selected 50 children and children who make up the group "Environmental Eugenist Guardians".

While at the José Choles Educational Center the objective of forming 5 environmental clubs based in Choles, termites, blond tobacco, Anaime and Piyaya. 75 kids(as) and young people from the ecological group "Environmental Explorers" with committed members, aware to contribute to a better environment within their institution and its surroundings in a didactic way, through comparisons and environmental stimuli. In both cases, students actively participate in the celebration of environmental dates, cleaning days, afforestation and use of waste, with the recycled material they made colorful pots that embellish the school environment.

Corpoguajira and Fundeban will continue working hand in hand to promote environmental education actions and tourism promotion based on good environmental practices among its users, which aims to intervene to achieve the formation of ethical and responsible citizens against the management of renewable natural resources.
