Declared by the Regional Autonomous Corporation of La Guajira as a protective forest reserve, Montes de Oca is part of the 9 conservation of protected areas in the department.
With its natural attractions it covers 12.294 hectares of the territory, crossing the municipalities of Maicao and Albania. A paradise surrounded by dry forests and sub-xerophytic scrub.
Among its responsibilities is to protect species such as: the green macaw, la loose, the partridge and the cardonera palaoma. At the same time, preserves the landscape values present in the area, so that they can be used in activities of contemplation and passive recreation.
Corporguajira calls for respect for this and all existing ecosystems, remember that man's survival depends on nature.
