Corpoguajira between 2001 and 2010, has been developing reforestation activities throughout the basin of Rio Cañas, jurisdiction of the Municipality of Dibuya, Guajira, as a measure of protection and conservation of its course and avoid harmful havoc in times of heavy rainfall and flooding caused by floods. These reforestation projects have been implemented in different lands and at different times, previously prioritized and agreed with their owners, to ensure the maintenance and upkeep of the plantation.
This farm group formed by 23 premises with areas reforested between 10 and 250 Hectares, They are among the 50 and 300 MSNM, generally on margins (left and right) Middle and Lower Basin Rio Cañas, heterogeneous forests have very different social characteristics, that make it susceptible to impacts of anthropogenic character that diminish the protective capacity of these.
From the initial date of establishment of these plantations, no entity has proceeded to carry out an evaluation or study to establish the current status of these from the point of view of conservation and possible causes that have affected potential deterioration or excellent conditions presented today. This paper aims to characterize and diagnose the current state of these plantations, taking into account all the factors that have influenced the development of these.
