GUARDIAN FOR THE CONSERVATION OF FORESTS AND BIODIVERSITY GUAJIRA

As the best protectors of forests and biodiversity empowered and sustainability of their territories, representatives of nine associations and community foundations lookouts environmental department, They signed a memorandum of understanding Conservation Agreements with Cerrejón and Corpoguajira, designed to safeguard ecosystems and strategic species for the region, in seven protected areas department: Protected Forest Reserves (RFP) of Cañaverales and Montes de Oca; and Integrated Management Districts (DMI) Rancheria River Delta, Perija, Lower Rancheria River Basin, Wallows and Musichi.

Strengthening the strategy corresponds to compliance with environmental compensation filed by Corpoguajira to Cerrejón, in which, through the establishment of voluntary agreements with the actors of the territory, preservation is achieved, use and integrated management of natural resources, and the protection of forest species ban, as the Heart Fino, Guayacan Ball, Puy and Mono Ollita more than 350 hectares, mainly dry tropical forest, one of the most strategic and threatened ecosystems in the region.
