ANT BEAR IS BORN IN CORPOGUAJIRA FACILITIES

This species has nocturnal and arboreal habits, It is a specialist insectivore and its diet is mainly based on ants and termites. Studies have documented that it eats more than ten different species of ants. Its distribution is recorded in much of the national territory, including La Guajira.

This passive and solitary mammal has a gestation period of five months, time after which the female has a single calf; their main threats are represented by the destruction of their habitat and run over.

Corpoguajira continues to call on the inhabitants of the department to hand over the wild fauna in captivity or to report acts that threaten the life and free development of threatened species.
