Aproximadamente 126 Wiwa Indians settled in the village Bunkuamake, (Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, rural Riohacha), They will benefit the construction of a supply system and potable water treatment and sanitation.
The project involves the implementation of infrastructure supply of water resources through headworks, transporte, almacenamiento, distribution and surface water treatment to ensure good quality water for consumption. Likewise, construction of irrigation and fish ponds for food security will be held.
It was also stipulated the construction of a farm and two lavatories for communal use; in order to improve the living conditions of this population.
The land where the project will be developed belong to Resguardo Indian Kogi-Malayo-Arhuaco; where Corpoguajira made after consultation with the traditional authorities authorization for the execution of works.
This project contemplates a Conservation Agreement, It is consisting of respect by Corpoguajira uses, customs and spiritual worldview of the community; while indigenous, are committed to avoiding indiscriminate felling of trees, no cause fires, solid waste management, complain to the authorities actions that undermine biodiversity and river basins care Tapias and Tomarrazón.
As part of this exciting project, environmental friendly, They will be made different training sessions, technical assistance and awareness on the efficient use and saving water.
Socialization was chaired by the Director General of Corpoguajira, Luis Medina Toro; with the presence of leaders and authorities Yugumaiun Bunkuamake Organizations Wiwa and Golkushe Tayrona Antonio Pinto; and officers of the Corporation.
Bunkuamake is an indigenous cultural village that is part of the environmental and traditional lace Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. The nearest water source is the river Tapias.
