The next April of this force will be verifying compliance with the guidance that the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism gave the five selected national beaches for the pilot implementation of the Blue Flag certification; international recognition awarded by the FEE (Foundation for Environmental Education) to countries that meet international standards for sustainable tourism.
Beaches Riohacha is one of five Colombian destinations chosen for the pilot phase. Corpoguajira hand working on compliance 33 conditions required, into four categories, focused especially: Environmental education, Bathing Water Quality, Environmental Management and Safety and Services.
Socialization schedule and processes that must be filled for obtaining the award were given by experts Lourdes Diaz and Camilo Botero, New global coordinator for Blue Flag Countries and adviser to the Vice Ministry of Tourism, respectively.
according to Botero, Riohacha must prepare for the visit of the national operator in May, since in July to apply for certification after an exhaustive review of a national jury should send all the results and duly supported Denmark, to be evaluated by an international jury, chaired by the EEF and in which the UN Agencies for Environment and Tourism participate.
The program encourages and rewards participation in voluntary environmental initiatives by municipal authorities, locals and visitors and agents of the tourism sector.
It should be noted that the invitation extended to apply to more than certificaciónfue 195 Caribbean beaches in the Pacific coastal and continental, and the insular Caribbean, of which were shortlisted 12 and finally selected five pilot beaches.
Selected in Colombia Beaches were Riohacha; White beach, in Santa Marta; Maguipi in Buenaventura; and, in San Andres, Sprat Bight y Rocky Cay.
Blue Flag Eco-Label is the leader in the world that have certified more than 4.000 beaches 46 countries. This award must be validated annually.
