POST-COMMISSION WILDLIFE SPECIMENS MANAGEMENT AND WELFARE WORKSHOP.
IN THE AGRO-ECOLOGICAL AND ECOTOURISTIC CENTER OF THE RIO JEREZ, INTERDISCIPLINARY AND INTERINSTITUTIONAL TEAM RECEIVED TRAINING

Corpoguajira through the Casa Ecológica Foundation, developed the Workshop to deepen knowledge on animal management and welfare in specimens of wild fauna, after being seized and made available to the Fundación Casa Ecológica, by environmental authorities. This training is contemplated within the framework of the Convention 0028 of 2015, that seeks to recover and conserve biodiversity by controlling the illegal traffic of wild fauna and flora, and,guarantee post-confiscation care of specimens and the implementation of educational and recreational days of environmental education.
The training was socialized before an interdisciplinary team composed of 57 people from different public and private entities, made up of officials from the Departmental Health Secretariat, Corpoguajira and its two territorial, Civil defense, Firefighters, Audit of the Contract, Environmental police, and, the Coordinator of the agreement, Dr. Gregoria Fonseca, head of A total of 900 specimens have returned to their natural habitat after being treated by professionals in the area at the sites provided by Corpoguajira, -the Ecological House and the Agroecological and Ecotourism Center of the river Jeréz-, in accordance with the provisions of the aforementioned agreement.
Howler Monkeys, cappuccinos, birds of all kinds, reptiles, turtles among others, are the animals subject to confiscation that arrive at the Casa Ecológica foundation for restitution, seizure by the Environmental Police or voluntary surrender, to be treated and subsequently released to continue their normal wildlife cycle.
