Corpoguajira delivered recommendations for the transit of tropical depression Nine

According to the most recent monitoring by Ideam and the Corpoguajira Early Warning System, Tropical Depression Nine is positioned approximately 370 km from Punta Gallinas, with sustained winds of 55km/h.

The forecast indicates that regardless of the development of this system, it is likely to affect northeastern Colombia with heavy rainfall and gusty winds
in the course of the next two or three days.

In this sense, Rains are forecast in some sectors that may exceed 100 accumulated mm, in the same way winds with gusts of up to 35 knots on land and even stronger in the maritime area. The occurrence of gales and the formation of waterspouts is not ruled out. The presence of thunderstorms will be significant during today's Friday and early Saturday morning 24 September.

Corpoguajira calls on the community in general to remain calm and follow the information issued by the authorized technical entities.

In addition, made the following recommendations: avoid driving vehicles when it rains; if you live near rivers or hillsides, be very attentive and notify the authorities if abnormal changes such as noises are identified, drop of material or change of color in the water.

Likewise, in the event of an electrical storm, recommended sheltering in a safe place; do not stand under trees or communication antennas; unplug appliances and refrain from cell phone use until the electrical shocks are over.

Finally, indicated that it is also vitally important to clean and secure the roofs, canals and gutters of houses to prevent flooding, and motivate relatives and neighbors to develop emergency plans, where those responsible for informing the community and directing activities in the event of any eventuality are established.
