Corpoguajira strengthens public libraries with the donation of copies of environmental education

Strengthen the information system of municipal public libraries and educational institutions of the department, is one of the projects currently carried out by the Regional Autonomous Corporation of La Guajira through the delivery of bibliographic material with an emphasis on environmental issues, for the benefit of teachers, students and members of the community in general, who seek to enrich their knowledge through such research.

In this sense, through the environmental education group of Corpoguajira, they have donated 3.000 books in urban and rural areas of the 15 municipalities of the peninsula. this management, started in 2021, has benefited four public libraries and eight educational institutions. Samuel Lanao Robles, Director Corpoguajira, highlighted this project aimed at "responding to the demand for environmental and cultural information services of citizens, especially in the most vulnerable areas, where libraries are the main means of access to research, the reading, knowledge management and the proper use of free time”.

The environmental authority specified that the specimens are, In its great majority, donations from the exchange service between the CARs attached to the network of documentation centers of the National Environmental System and the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development.

It should be noted that through this initiative, bibliographical material has also been shared in digital format, in order that students have much more information immediately and accurately.
