Corpoguajira will rehabilitate 415 hectares of strategic ecosystems in the rural area of ​​Fonseca

In order to mitigate forest loss, strengthen the conservation of water resources and biodiversity, Corpoguajira will rehabilitate the rural area of ​​Fonseca 415 hectares of strategic ecosystems located in the villages of Puerto López, The Blessings and Saint Augustine.

“With this project we continue our task of consolidating an environmentally sustainable territory. Native species will be used that will allow us to optimize the flow of the different bodies of water in the sector, as well as improving the microclimatic conditions with the increase of the vegetal cover in the sub-basin of the Villanueva River”, explained Samuel Lanao Robles, Director Corpoguajira.

The official also specified that through the project they will benefit 3.000 inhabitants of the area, “active reforestation will be carried out by planting forest species such as puy, fine heart, monkey pot, ball guayacan, macaw, mulatto, yaguaro, trupillo, among other".

During the socialization event of the project, held in the village of Las Bendiciones, Estela Freile Lopesierra, Territorial Director of Corpoguajira (Fonseca), made a call to the community, to conserve and maintain the species that will be planted, "You as residents are allies of the purpose that the Corporation has to sustain and conserve our strategic ecosystems.
