El Sistema de Alertas Tempranas, operado por Corpoguajira y la Cruz Roja Colombiana, informs Tips (Departmental and Municipal) de Gestión del Riesgo de Desastres de La Guajira y a la comunidad en general, what, conforme a los estudios realizados, el Fenómeno de El Niño se extenderá durante todo el segundo semestre de 2015, ya que la anomalía en la temperatura superficial de las aguas del Océano Pacifico aumentará hasta finales del presente año.

Existe una probabilidad mayor al 90% de que El Niño continúe hasta noviembre o diciembre 2015, y alrededor de un 85% de que se extienda hasta principios de 2016, sin embargo esta predicción puede variar en los próximos meses.

Corpoguajira reitera a los organismos de emergencias del departamento tomar las medidas preventivas y de seguimiento para afrontar los efectos que se puedan presentar ante el fenómeno de variabilidad climática.
